A couple of weeks back the internet was buzzing with the all but confirmation of what the Wall Street Journal called a family friendly Game of Thrones style Legend of Zelda series for Netflix. In a recent article in Time Magazine, Satoru Iwata speaks on the rumors,
“As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information,” Iwata said to Time. The fan boy deep in my heart likes to dwell on the fact that in the quote Mr Iwata does not deny that there will be Nintendo Shows/movies , he merely states that the article is simply not true.
Also, I’d like to point out that Nintendo has a long history of denying rumors out right, even though they are true. Most recently the rumors of mobile gaming were expressively denied only to turn out to be true a few months later. In my opinion, Nintendo does this so that they ensure that they have a quality product before they can hype up its fan base….trying to avoid another Virtual Boy like flop. If that is the case, take your time Nintendo…make sure that they don’t mess up any of your beloved IPs.
